We shared this recently over at Melanie's blog, who is a sweet friend of mine :)
My daughter is my absolute world to me. I look forward to seeing that contagious little smile every morning, the scrunch of her little nose, and the gleam of excitement in her eyes when she knows she is doing something she isn't supposed to. It's funny how quickly you forget what life was like before you had your little ones. Before my Sabrina, I'm sure I would have filled my day with work and some tv episodes. I have happily traded that in for playing horsie on the floor and making flowers for Sabrina to wear. :) And boy do I make a ton of flowers. I'm a bit obsessed! Here is my new favorite...
What you'll learn about me is that I can't sew. It's on my list of things to learn. Usually I cannot even get the sewing machine to work and even if I do, I have never even come close to sewing a straight line. So! Janae (little sister) is my designated sewer. She sewed a line on the bottom of this eyelet lace (which I am througholy impressed with, I have know idea how she managed to stay in such a small space!) with a very wide stitch and kept both ends open.
This way I was able to easilty pull on one thread to make the entire thing ruffle.
As I ruffled along, I spun it in a circle, glueing periodically as I went.
And after glueing it to some stretchy lace, I get to do another one of my favorite hobbies....photoshoots with Sabrina! (as you've probably noticed I share a picture of her almost every post, just can't help myself)

Super cute! I can't sew either...only something simple if my mom is there to help. I love how easy this is to make! Hopefully my daughter will start keeping headbands on.

This is such a cute idea!
ReplyDeleteThis is so darling! I'm having a craft day later with a friend after church. I think I'm going to try this! Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I can't sew, either. One of my New Years Resolutions is to learn to do it better! :)
I love this! I wish I could sew!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Even I could do it!
ReplyDeleteYou are SO talented. Gosh...I am thoroughly impressed. :)
ReplyDeleteSo easy & so cute!!! Another brilliant idea;)
ReplyDeleteI have a box full of this eyelet lace that was given to me and I've never done anything with it. I'm SO doing this!!!! Darling!!! I make hair accessories for a little boutique in town AND have a little girl who I adore as well (aren't they the best?!) so I'll be using this tute - thanks so much for the great idea! And your little girl is DARLING!
ReplyDeleteThat turned out gorgeous! Your daughter is a doll!

Well you lucky to have your sister to sew the "straight" lines for you. I've seen flowers in many different fabrics but not lace. I have so much lace so this has given me a great way to use some. the flower would also look great on coats and purses. Your Sabrina is so cute. My fingers are crossed you'll share the lace flowers at Sunday's Best tonight!
ReplyDeleteShe is rockin' that headband! I think I need to make my niece one now!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I have some upstairs just waiting for this project :) Where do you buy your stretch lace? I have had a hard time finding it and its so pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh- and if you set the machine on the highest thread tension and hold onto the spool a bit while you sew, it makes the ruffles for you! You might still have to hand ruffle a bit for this project, but it would save a little time!
Thanks for the cute idea!!!
