Hello Letter 4 readers. I am so honored to be here. I remember when I was first contacted by the sisters, their blog was brand new. It has been so amazing watching their blog grow like wild fire. They are so talented and bring so much to the blogosphere!! They seriously all have the most sweetest hearts, which is a rare thing nowadays on the internet. But I’m sure you already knew that.
I’m Kristan and I blog over @ adelynSTONE. My blog is a simple blog with a goal to inspire and embrace all those little moments in life. You’ll find tutorials, easy recipes, repurposing ideas, confessions, my take on fashion and blogging tips for newbies. Really, I don’t think there ISN’T something I havn’t blogged about. hah. From stories about breastfeeding in public to our financial struggles. I put it all out there. I have two babes, Adelyn who just turned 3 and Stone who just turned 1. Hence the name adelynSTONE. They are the heart and soul of my life, so it’s only natural they show up on the blog, I try to get them involved as much as possible, Adelyn loves to help me bake and craft, so you’ll see little hands in some pictures and Stone likes to look like a stud-muffin, so of course I throw in random pictures of his gorgeous blue eyes.
Today I’m going to share with you a super simple Valentine garland.
You can do by yourself or with the help of little hands.
You can do by yourself or with the help of little hands.
Note: If you already have scrap strips of cardstock, like me, go ahead and use those. If not, you might want to paint pieces of paper first, then cut into strips. I recommend using cardstock, as it’s sturdier than plain paper.
Alright, so first you’re going to paint, using whatever colors you’d like on both sides of the strips.
We used acrylic paint because the variety of colors is crazy, but use whatever paint you prefer. Let the strips dry, by the time we were done, the first ones we painted were already dry.
The heart shape is pretty self explanatory, but incase you want to see how it was done, here you go:
After you have all your hearts, use a needle and crochet cord (or any twine) to string them like so:

I'm not a huge fan of Valentines day. I've always gotten my hopes up and been disappointed in how the day turned out. It's not all it's cracked up to me, you know? But I do love getting my dozen roses from my man :)
ReplyDeleteI never was a fan of love day as i call it. last year, my husband and i were engaged and doing the long distance thing i was CA and he was in UT. i had already gotten a HUGE box of treats earlier that week from him but, on love day i received a HUGE bouquet of RED ROSES from him. It was the sweetest ever!

I hate it because some people use it as an excuse to be 'more' affectionate to their partner. You sbould give them the same amount every darn day! Don''t use a heavily commercialized holiday!
ReplyDeleteI do see it as a good thing though somewhat as well, because it means only 5 days til my girlfriend's birthday!
That was such a kid friendly craft! I love it! I'm hosing a Valentine's craft link up and I might just have the make this. :)
ReplyDeleteI hate that we don't get that day off from school, and I love stocking up on chocolate and the like.
ReplyDeleteMy 4 yr old loves hearts!! I'm making this for sure. Thanks for sharing! Love it! This is my kind of craft!!
ReplyDeleteMy fav V-day memory... My hubbs surprised me with a beautiful pink purse that was waaay out of our price range! It was out first as a married couple.
My most memorable Valentine's Day was probably the one when I was pregnant. We didn't do anything or celebrate(we never do!), but for obvious reasons that was my favorite. :)

I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's day...but my husband is always really sweet and is always full of surprises, so I do secretly look forward to it each year.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping that {this} Valentines will be my best and most memorable yet. See I live in Texas right now and my boyfriend is in Utah. We are postponing Valentines until the 22nd when he gets here, which coincidentally marks one year together for us. I simply cannot wait!
ReplyDeleteIn 2006 I was on a study abroad in New Zealand. My boyfriend (and now husband) was back in the States. I came home from classes to find a giant box of roses that he ordered for me. I wasn't expecting anything more than a phone call--it was a great surprise!

I am not into Valentine's Day really. I just send out a few cards to the ones I love.
ReplyDeletewhat a sweet garland and fun project for your kiddos!
ReplyDeleteI think my fondest V-day memories are from Elementary School...decorating a paper bag and then getting to give out and receive those little store-bought princess/superhero valentines cards...what an innocent and fun way to spread some love! (and the party that we always had was fun too!)
I love discovering new blogs and artist. I can get into Valentine's Day now that I have two little girls (under the age of 8) and so far I've had each of them as my Valentine....plus my hubby and I'm one lucky lady! Can't wait to read more about her and her family!
ReplyDeleteI love Valentine's Day! I don't have a super-memorable one, but the thing I LOVE most about it is.... MY BIRTHDAY!! I was born on Valentine's day. Practically everyone in my family was born on a holiday (weird and quirky, right??) and I just happened to get Valentine's day. So, naturally, it's my favorite holiday, and my favorite candy is conversation hearts =]
ReplyDeleteMy birthday is the 19th just a few days after the V-day, I was my Dad's belated Valentine so my mom said! I love that thought now that I am older!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for guest posting Kristan!!! You are so talented & I love your blog! Such a cute project!!! We are definitely doing this tonight:)
ReplyDeletei think my most memorable Valentines day would have to be the year my firstborn, a daughter was born. i delivered her on the eve. of Valentines day. I tried to wait just a few hours longer, crazy i know, but i was so close to the 14th and at the time both my husband and i were born on holidays, so thought it would be so neat for her to be as well! We have since added a dog born on a holiday, lol and my son, days away from one, lol. When i expressed my disappointment for just missing the day with my daughter, my husband made me instantly feel better by saying that it's ok, she has her own day!! ;) So true. I don't even mind when her special day rolls around on a Friday the 13th~she is such a blessing~was lucky for us ;)
ReplyDeleteMy husband is a hopeless romantic throughout the year, and my mother-in-law is a florist; so we spend the holiday making beautiful flower arrangements and delivering them to smiling faces!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, I love how you involved your childern.
ReplyDeleteI found you on Tater Tots and Jello and I would love it if you would share this with our readers too for Fun Stuff Fridays! http://www.toysinthedryer.com/2012/02/14-days-of-valentines-fun-stuff-fridays_10.html
