How to make fluffy pancakes

I feel a little funny writing this post because quite frankly I have never made a fluffy pancake in my life. Like I've said before again and again...I am not a cook! My dad (and mom) however are amazing! I don't even like pancakes. I actually don't even like syrup!!! I would rather starve then eat pancakes from McDonald's. Ew. But Dad doesn't make pancakes...he makes the big fluffy circles of joy is the only way I can describe them!

And guess what...the trick is easy. Honestly all they use is Bisquick, but the secret is to let the batter rest. I can't tell you how many times I've heard this in our house. After you beat it all together..STOP! Walk away! Go flip some bacon and let that batter sit there for a good few minutes! Then you will get pancakes that look like these beauties.

Breakfast is THE best in the Godfrey household. No lie.

My Prom Answer

In which I answered...
My superb friend, Levi, asked me to Prom the day I got back from Boise! It made me feel pretty solid. So, I got my sign and "pigs" ready to answer him. I was going to put them on his car... but I couldn't find it in the school parking lot? So, I take out my phone to ask someone if he's in class and there's a text there waiting for me from him saying, "Oh, heyyy, I'm sick today. We'll have lunch tomorrow?" ...Fancy that, I have balloons that are going to deflate by tomorrow so he's probably going to think I'm saying no if I wait til tomorrow!

Next thing you know, I'm at his front door trying to tape things on as fast as possible when Levi appears! No big deal. Goll! haha It's the second time I've been caught answering someone to a dance. I'm kind of terrible at being sneaky? Oh, well. You get the point. :)

How to make your own boutineer

It's my last prom this week.
Prom is a bit overrated. I'm not a fan of it.
I know, I know. "It's part of the high school experience"...but ya know what?

I can still go on a date, dance, and enjoy all of it without spending my life savings!

I don't need a decorated gymnasium and a poofy dress to have a fun night. That's why this year, I've gone 1920's sensible.

1920's Sensible edition: The Boutineer
All I did was stack three feathers together, glued a ribbon around them, and glued a swell looking button on top. It's not expensive, it won't wilt...it's just plain classy in my book. Just sayin'.

How to make a baseball into a bracelet

One hundred years ago, on this very day, Fenway Park opened for the very first time! It is the oldest ballpark that's still in active use today. Ya know how I came to realize this? I was watching one of my many favorite baseball movies, Fever Pitch.
League of Their Own, The Sandlot, Angels in the Outfield, Fever Pitch, The Rookie...they're all so classy. I adore the thought of attending a good ol' fashioned, American baseball game. I did look at the tickets for the Red Sox vs. Yankees game on April 20, 2012, but there's no way of affording even standing space without selling an arm and four legs first. BUT. Attending a Red Sox vs. Yankees game at Fenway Park is on my bucket list.
Anywhoo, to celebrate this year, I decided to make a baseball bracelet I found over at I Can Find the Time!
It's fuuuun. You know you want to do it, toooooo.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FENWAY PARK!

What I Wore: Love Me Some Old Man Shoes Edition

Ya know what makes my day? My insane nieces and nephews making chaos. Being home around my favorite mini humans in the world makes my life, quite frankly.(Minus Chloe and Rosie due to distance. I miss their stinkin' cute faces.) Life would be a dull thing without them. Brandon is the buffest lil' one year old, constantly finding him doing pull ups on any bar/counter/ledge he can find? The small man is dedicated. Gage is the most innocent looking two year old in the history of innocent looking two year olds. You basically forget to inhale/exhale when his ginormous blue eyes gaze at you. Sabrina is exactly like her mother. She. Is. A. Crack up. One of the funniest one year olds. She likes to explore new ways to get around. She was doing a sort of grapevine today. Kirianna is one SASSY eight year old. I have a feeling that's my fault, but I love it. Her and her comebacks! hahaha

Shirt/Ring/Earings: Forever21
Skirt/Shoes: Old Navy
Necklace: From my dear friend, Emily!
Phone Vinyl: designed by Jamie@theletter4

All in all, being an aunt is pretty solid. Just sayin'.

Quick Morning Routine

So, I could tell you all about the many things that keep me crazy busy and the fact that my to-do list doesn't have an end...that I can see yet, but every single one of us have little things that keep our lives full every moment and I'm betting all your lists are a lot like mine. Whether you're a mom, student, working woman, blogger, all of the above, it can seem almost impossible to find a moment for YOU sometimes.

Before my three sweet little ones were born, I took my good old time getting ready for the day and everything had to be just so. All that's just a nice thought now, but since I've learned I can look just as put together in 15 maybe 20 minutes and feel good.

My best friend has to be Carmindy's 5 Minute Face. Her technique is great for everyday and gives you a nice glow. Not to mention it only takes minutes!!! It's also easy to add to if you're planning on going out later and want to glam things up a bit.

I find that when look put together I feel more in control and confident. I'm more positive throughout the day and get so much more done, I'm not scrambling to find a hiding place when someone knocks on the door either. Take a minute for yourself everyday and find what works for you, but the most important thing is to appreciate you and your own unique beauty.

Baby Sling

My little 1 year old, who used to hate to cuddle, be held, or anything has now decided he needs to be attached to hip. I basically can't get anything done with him following me around crying to be held, sound familiar to anyone???? Well, Jamie and I had traded baby slings a long time ago because I loved the one she had and she was looking for something different. Sad part is this little guy is a bit too big for the sling I got from Jamie. So, I made a slightly bigger one and it seriously took seconds.

I have to warn you though, when it comes to sewing I've never followed a pattern. I just kind of do whatever.... sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. This time it just so happened to work out:)

For this project I used a yard of fabric and found it easier to work with it inside out. On the sling I had from Jamie I always kind of felt like I had to much fabric on my shoulder, so I cut the fabric so the part that slings over the shoulder is slimmer.

When you unfold it, it looks slightly like a giant diaper haha. I doubled the fabric so I could just sew together the edges and pull it right side out (kind of like a weird shaped pillow case). That way I didn't have to worry about hemming it. Last I pulled it right side out and sewed the bottom together.
Now, my little guy is happy and I can a lot more accomplished. It's a win win!!!
I know these are super vague and probably confusing instructions, but maybe it'll inspire and idea of your own.

Have a beautiful day!
